I figured out why I couldn't comment on certain blogs, including my own! (See the answer by The New Katney)
Basically, I can't make comments on blogs where the comment box is embedded below the post. So I changed it to a pop-up box, and voila!
After I did that, I realized that the people's whose blogs I could comment on used the pop-up box. *facepalm*
Oh, and I figured out how to get back to my dashboard after viewing my blog. There's the orange "B" box on the top far right. I click it and it takes me there.
