I promised you a list of why girls like bad boys, so here are 5 reasons I pulled from my...muse. (Leftover joke from when Michael Feldman came to Omaha.)
Rite of Passage
A knight in shining armor can’t save a damsel in distress if she’s never in distress. Bad boys ultimately put girls in distress. What girl doesn’t want a guy to fall for her? (Boys get a head start on getting the girls to fall for them, although it often involves a foot jutted sideways from a desk and a face on the floor.) The idea of the bad boy falling for the (good) girl has been romanticized in Beauty & the Beast and Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin.’” And what girl doesn't want her love life to reflect a Disney movie and a pop song?
Opposites Attract
The grass is greener on the other side; we always want what we don’t have. Girls, especially the good ones, sometimes wish they could cast their inhibitions aside and bad boys are really good at that.
Fix It!Just like boys, girls like to fix things. Albeit, very different things. Guys like to see broken stuff working again, parts moving the way they’re supposed to or better than, and all the better if they get to be the ones to break it first. Same thing with girls. Except for maybe the destruction aspect. They like to see broken people functioning again, becoming responsible and kind, that sort of thing.
The Blame GameRelationships are prone to capturing carnage. And, especially in today’s liability-driven society, blame must be placed. Responsibility must be taken. There are no accidents. Someone is at fault. And it’s easier to blame a bad boy for ruining something because, well, he’s got the history. And that mysterious force that attracts wreckage.
They’re HotThey steal the finest clothes, dash at the finest diners and all that running from the cops keeps them fit.

Last point out of the 5...that is the best! :) LOL! (...and probably the most true...)
Although...if I may point out, there could be even more to point out...under the Blame Game you mentioned history. But, what about the history of the bad boy and the good girl? All of the bad boys I've ever liked, things only turned that out that way definitively because we had history to begin with! and that's just a trend that I'm seeing, not just with my life but in others' too.
Sometimes you don't see the badness behind the boy until there's something there to call out "bad!" as if it's some foul.
